| 13:1 | Whoever touches pitch gets dirty, and whoever associates with a proud person becomes like him. | ⲫⲏ ⲉⲧϭⲟϩ ⲛ̀ⲟⲩⲗⲁⲙϫⲁⲡⲧ ϥⲛⲁⲑⲱⲗⲉⲃ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫⲏ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲙⲟϣⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩϭⲁⲥⲓϩⲏⲧ ϥⲛⲁⲟⲛⲓ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟϥ | Wer Pech anrührt, dem klebt es an der Hand; wer mit einem Zuchtlosen umgeht, nimmt seine Art an. | Chi maneggia la pece si sporca, chi frequenta il superbo diviene simile a lui. | من لمس القير توسخ ومن قارن المتكبر اشبهه | ||||||||||
| 13:2 | Do not lift a weight too heavy for you, or associate with one mightier and richer than you. How can the clay pot associate with the iron kettle? The pot will strike against it and be smashed. | Wie willst du tragen, was dir zu schwer ist? Ist einer reicher als du, wie kannst du mit ihm zusammengehen? Wie kann der irdene Topf mit dem Kessel zusammengehen? Der Kessel stößt an ihn und er zerbricht. | Non portare un peso troppo grave, non associarti ad uno più forte e più ricco di te. Come una pentola di coccio farà società con una caldaia? Questa l'urterà e quella andrà in frantumi. | لا ترفع ثقلا يفوق طاقتك ولا تقارن من هو اقوى واغنى منك | |||||||||||
| 13:3 | A rich person does wrong, and even adds insults; a poor person suffers wrong, and must add apologies. | Der Reiche tut Unrecht und prahlt noch damit, der Arme leidet Unrecht und muss um Gnade bitten. | Il ricco commette ingiustizia e per di più grida forte, il povero riceve ingiustizia e per di più deve scusarsi. | كيف يقرن بين قدر الخزف والمرجل انها اذا صدمت تنكسر | |||||||||||
| 13:4 | A rich person will exploit you if you can be of use to him, but if you are in need he will abandon you. | Bist du ihm nützlich, ist er um dich bemüht, brichst du zusammen, lässt er dich im Stich. | Se puoi essergli utile, approfitterà di te; se hai bisogno, ti abbandonerà. | الغني يظلم ويصخب والفقير يظلم ويتضرع | |||||||||||
| 13:5 | If you own something, he will live with you; he will drain your resources without a qualm. | Hast du etwas, gibt er dir schöne Worte, doch er macht dich arm, ohne dass es ihm Leid tut. | Se possiedi, vivrà con te; ti spoglierà e non ne avrà alcuna pena. | ان كنت نافعا استغلك وان كنت عقيما خذلك | |||||||||||
| 13:6 | When he needs you he will deceive you, and will smile at you and encourage you; he will speak to you kindly and say, What do you need? | Hat er dich nötig, schmeichelt er dir, er lächelt dir zu und macht dir Hoffnung. | Ha bisogno di te? Ti imbroglierà, ti sorriderà e ti darà una speranza, ti rivolgerà belle parole e domanderà: «Di che cosa hai bisogno?». | ان كان لك مال عاشرك واستنفذ مالك وهو لا يتعب | |||||||||||
| 13:7 | He will embarrass you with his delicacies, until he has drained you two or three times, and finally he will laugh at you. Should he see you afterwards, he will pass you by and shake his head at you. | Solange es Vorteil bringt, hält er dich zum Besten, zweimal, dreimal täuscht er dich. Sieht er dich dann wieder, geht er an dir vorbei und schüttelt den Kopf über dich. | Ti farà arrossire con i suoi banchetti, finché non ti avrà spremuto due o tre volte. Alla fine ti deriderà; poi vedendoti ti eviterà e scuoterà il capo davanti a te. | ان كان له بك حاجة غرك وتبسم اليك ووعدك وكلمك بالخير وقال ما حاجتك | |||||||||||
| 13:8 | Take care not to be led astray and humiliated when you are enjoying yourself. | Gib Acht, wag dich nicht zu weit vor und werde nicht wie die, denen der Verstand fehlt. | Stà attento a non lasciarti imbrogliare né umiliare per la tua stoltezza. | و قدم لك من الاطعمة ما يخجلك حتى يستنفذ ما لك في مرتين او ثلاث واخيرا يستهزئ بك ويراك بعد ذلك فيخذلك وينغض راسه عليك | |||||||||||
| 13:9 | When an influential person invites you, be reserved, and he will invite you more insistently. | Naht sich ein Vornehmer, halte dich fern, umso mehr wird er dich an sich ziehen. | Quando un potente ti chiama, allontànati; egli ti chiamerà sempre di più. | اخشع لله وانتظر يده | |||||||||||
| 13:10 | Do not be forward, or you may be rebuffed; do not stand aloof, or you will be forgotten. | Dräng dich nicht vor, sonst musst du dich wieder zurückziehen; zieh dich aber nicht ganz zurück, sonst wirst du vergessen. | Non essere invadente per non essere respinto, ma non allontanarti troppo per non essere dimenticato. | احذر ان تغتر وتتذلل في جهالتك | |||||||||||
| 13:11 | Do not try to treat him as an equal, or trust his lengthy conversations; for he will test you by prolonged talk, and while he smiles he will be examining you. | Sei nicht zu sicher im freien Umgang mit ihm, trau nicht seinen vielen Reden! Mit seinen vielen Reden sucht er dich zu verführen, er lächelt dir zu und forscht dich aus. | Non credere di trattare alla pari con lui e non fidarti delle sue molte parole; | لا تكن ذليلا في حكمتك لئلا يستدرجك الذل الى الجهالة | |||||||||||
| 13:12 | Cruel are those who do not keep your secrets; they will not spare you harm or imprisonment. | Grausam handelt der Mächtige und kennt kein Mitleid, gegen das Leben vieler schmiedet er heimliche Pläne. | con la sua molta loquacità ti metterà alla prova e quasi sorridendo ti esaminerà. | اذا دعاك مقتدر فتوار فبذلك يزيد في دعوته لك | |||||||||||
| 13:13 | Be on your guard and very careful, for you are walking about with your own downfall. | Gib Acht und sei vorsichtig, geh nicht mit gewalttätigen Menschen! | Spietato chi non mantiene le parole, non ti risparmierà maltrattamenti e catene. | لا تقتحم لئلا تطرد ولا تقف بعيدا لئلا تنسى | |||||||||||
| 13:14 | When you hear these things in your sleep, wake up! | 13:15 | Every creature loves its like, and every person the neighbor. | Jedes Lebewesen liebt seinesgleichen, jeder Mensch den, der ihm ähnlich ist. | Ogni creatura vivente ama il suo simile, ogni uomo il suo vicino. | انه بلا رحمة لا ينجز ما وعد ولا يمسك عن الاساءة والقيود | |||||||||||
| 13:16 | All living beings associate with their own kind, and people stick close to those like themselves. | Jedes Lebewesen hat seinesgleichen um sich, mit seinesgleichen gehe auch der Mensch zusammen. | Ogni essere si accoppia secondo la sua specie; l'uomo si associa a chi gli è simile. | احترز وتنبه جدا فانك على شفا السقوط | |||||||||||
| 13:17 | What does a wolf have in common with a lamb? No more has a sinner with the devout. | Geht etwa der Wolf mit dem Lamm zusammen? Ebenso wenig der Frevler mit dem Gerechten. | Che cosa vi può essere in comune tra il lupo e l'agnello? Lo stesso accade fra il peccatore e il pio. | و ان سمعت بهذه في منامك فتيقظ | |||||||||||
| 13:18 | What peace is there between a hyena and a dog? And what peace between the rich and the poor? | Lebt etwa die Hyäne mit dem Hund in Frieden und der Reiche in Frieden mit dem Armen? | Quale pace può esservi fra la iena e il cane? Quale intesa tra il ricco e il povero? | في حياتك كلها احبب الرب وادعه لخلاصك | |||||||||||
| 13:19 | Wild asses in the wilderness are the prey of lions; likewise the poor are feeding grounds for the rich. | Des Löwen Beute sind die Wildesel in der Wüste; so sind die Geringen die Weide des Reichen. | Sono preda dei leoni gli ònagri nel deserto; così pascolo dei ricchi sono i poveri. | كل حيوان يحب نظيره وكل انسان يحب قريبه | |||||||||||
| 13:20 | Humility is an abomination to the proud; likewise the poor are an abomination to the rich. | Ein Gräuel für den Stolzen ist die Demut, ein Gräuel für den Reichen ist der Arme. | La condizione umile è in abominio al superbo, così il povero è in abominio al ricco. | كل ذي جسد يصاحب نوعه والرجل يلازم نظيره | |||||||||||
| 13:21 | When the rich person totters, he is supported by friends, but when the humble falls, he is pushed away even by friends. | Wankt ein Reicher, wird er vom Freund gestützt, wankt ein Geringer, wird er vom Freund gestürzt. | Se il ricco vacilla, è sostenuto dagli amici; se il povero cade, anche dagli amici è respinto. | ايقارن الذئب الحمل كذلك شان الخاطئ مع التقي | |||||||||||
| 13:22 | If the rich person slips, many come to the rescue; he speaks unseemly words, but they justify him. If the humble person slips, they even criticize him; he talks sense, but is not given a hearing. | Redet ein Reicher, so hat er viele Helfer. Sein törichtes Gerede nennen sie schön. Redet ein Geringer, ruft man: Pfui! Mag er auch klug reden, für ihn ist kein Platz. | Se cade il ricco, molti lo aiutano; dice cose insulse? Eppure lo si felicita. Se cade il povero, lo si rimprovera; se dice cose assennate, non ci si bada. | اي سلام بين الضبع والكلب واي سلام بين الغني والفقير | |||||||||||
| 13:23 | The rich person speaks and all are silent; they extol to the clouds what he says. The poor person speaks and they say, Who is this fellow? And should he stumble, they even push him down. | Redet ein Reicher, dann schweigen alle, sie erheben seine Klugheit bis zu den Wolken. Redet ein Geringer, heißt es: Wer ist denn das? Stolpert er, dann stoßen sie ihn noch. | Parla il ricco, tutti tacciono ed esaltano fino alle nuvole il suo discorso. Parla il povero e dicono: «Chi è costui?». | 13:24 | Riches are good if they are free from sin; poverty is evil only in the opinion of the ungodly. | Gut ist der Reichtum, wenn keine Schuld an ihm klebt; schlimm ist die Armut, die aus Übermut entstand. | La ricchezza è buona, se è senza peccato; la povertà è cattiva a detta dell'empio. | التواضع رجس عند المتكبر وهكذا الفقير رجس عند الغني | |||||||||||

| 13:26 | The sign of a happy heart is a cheerful face, but to devise proverbs requires painful thinking. | Zeichen des glücklichen Herzens ist ein frohes Gesicht; Sorgen und Kummer sind quälendes Grübeln. | Indice di un cuore buono è una faccia gioiosa, ma la scoperta di proverbi è un lavoro ben faticoso. | يزل الغني فيعينه كثيرون يتكلم بالمنكرات فيبرئونه |
