18:1	But for your holy ones there was very great light. Their enemies heard their voices but did not see their forms, and counted them happy for not having suffered,	Deinen Heiligen dagegen strahlte hellstes Licht. Per i tuoi santi risplendeva una luce vivissima; essi invece, sentendone le voci, senza vederne l'aspetto. li proclamavan beati, chè non avevan come loro sofferto	اما قديسوك فكان عندهم نور عظيم وكان اولئك يسمعون اصواتهم بغير ان يبصروا اشخاصهم ويغبطونهم على انهم لا يقاسون مثل حالهم
18:2	and were thankful that your holy ones, though previously wronged, were doing them no injury; and they begged their pardon for having been at variance with them.	Sie dankten ihnen, dass sie für das früher erlittene Unrecht keine Rache nahmen, und baten um Verzeihung für ihr feindliches Verhalten.	ed erano loro grati perché, offesi per primi, non facevano loro del male e imploravano perdono d'essere stati loro nemici.	و يشكرونهم على انهم لا يؤذون الذين قد ظلموهم ويستغفرونهم من معاداتهم لهم
18:3	Therefore you provided a flaming pillar of fire as a guide for your people's unknown journey, and a harmless sun for their glorious wandering.	Statt jener Finsternis gabst du den Deinen eine flammende Feuersäule als Führerin auf unbekanntem Weg, als freundliche Sonne auf ihrer ruhmvollen Wanderung.	Invece delle tenebre desti loro una colonna di fuoco, come guida in un viaggio sconosciuto e come un sole innocuo per il glorioso emigrare.	و بازاء ذلك جعلت لهؤلاء عمود نار دليلا في طريق لم يعرفوه شمسا لتلك الضيافة الكريمة لا اذى بها
18:4	For their enemies deserved to be deprived of light and imprisoned in darkness, those who had kept your children imprisoned, through whom the imperishable light of the law was to be given to the world.	Jene hingegen hatten es verdient, des Lichtes beraubt und in Finsternis gefangen zu sein, weil sie einst deine Söhne eingeschlossen und gefangen hielten, durch die das unvergängliche Licht des Gesetzes der Welt gegeben werden sollte.	Eran degni di essere privati della luce e di essere imprigionati nelle tenebre quelli che avevano tenuto chiusi in carcere i tuoi figli, per mezzo dei quali la luce incorruttibile della legge doveva esser concessa al mondo.	اما اولئك فكان جديرا بهم ان يفقدوا النور ويحبسوا في الظلمة لانهم حبسوا بنيك الذين بهم سيمنح الدهر نور شريعتك الغير الفاني
18:5	When they had resolved to kill the infants of your holy ones, and one child had been abandoned and rescued, you in punishment took away a multitude of their children; and you destroyed them all together by a mighty flood.	Sie hatten beschlossen, die Kinder der Heiligen zu töten, und nur ein einziges Kind wurde ausgesetzt und gerettet. Zur Strafe hast du ihnen viele ihrer eigenen Kinder weggenommen und sie alle auf einmal in gewaltiger Wasserflut vernichtet.	Poiché essi avevan deciso di uccidere i neonati dei santi - e un solo bambino fu esposto e salvato - per castigo eliminasti una moltitudine di loro figli e li facesti perire tutti insieme nell'acqua impetuosa.	و لما ائتمروا ان يقتلوا اطفال القديسين وعرض واحد منهم لذلك ثم خلص عاقبتهم انت باهلاك جمهور اولادهم ثم دمرتهم جميعا في الماء الغامر
18:6	That night was made known beforehand to our ancestors, so that they might rejoice in sure knowledge of the oaths in which they trusted.	Jene Nacht wurde unseren Vätern vorher angekündigt; denn sie sollten zuversichtlich sein und sicher wissen, welchen eidlichen Zusagen sie vertrauen konnten.	Quella notte fu preannunziata ai nostri padri, perché sapendo a quali promesse avevano creduto, stessero di buon animo.	و تلك الليلة قد اخبر بها اباؤنا من قبل لكي تطيب نفوسهم لعلمهم اليقين ما الاقسام التي يثقون بها
18:7	The deliverance of the righteous and the destruction of their enemies were expected by your people.	So erwartete dein Volk die Rettung der Gerechten und den Untergang der Feinde.	Il tuo popolo si attendeva la salvezza dei giusti come lo sterminio dei nemici.	ففاز شعبك بخلاص الصديقين وهلاك الاعداء
18:8	For by the same means by which you punished our enemies you called us to yourself and glorified us.	Während du die Gegner straftest, hast du uns zu dir gerufen und verherrlicht.	Difatti come punisti gli avversari, così ci rendesti gloriosi, chiamandoci a te.	فان الذي عاقبت به المقاومين هو الذي جذبتنا به اليك ومجدتنا
18:9	For in secret the holy children of good people offered sacrifices, and with one accord agreed to the divine law, so that the saints would share alike the same things, both blessings and dangers; and already they were singing the praises of the ancestors.	Denn im Verborgenen feierten die frommen Söhne der Guten ihr Opferfest; sie verpflichteten sich einmütig auf das göttliche Gesetz, dass die Heiligen in gleicher Weise Güter wie Gefahren teilen sollten, und sangen schon im Voraus die Loblieder der Väter.	I figli santi dei giusti offrivano sacrifici in segreto e si imposero, concordi, questa legge divina: i santi avrebbero partecipato ugualmente ai beni e ai pericoli, intonando prima i canti di lode dei padri.	فان القديسين بني الصالحين كانوا يذبحون خفية ويوجبون على انفسهم شريعة الله هذه ان يشترك القديسون في السراء والضراء على السواء وكانوا يرنمون بتسابيح الاباء
18:10	But the discordant cry of their enemies echoed back, and their piteous lament for their children was spread abroad.	Da hallte ihnen das wirre Geschrei der Feinde entgegen und sie hörten die laute Klage über die toten Kinder.	Faceva eco il grido confuso dei nemici e si diffondeva il lamento di quanti piangevano i figli.	و قد رفع الاعداء جلبة اصواتهم بالبكاء والنحيب على اطفالهم
18:11	The slave was punished with the same penalty as the master, and the commoner suffered the same loss as the king;	Das gleiche Urteil traf Herrn und Knecht; der Mann aus dem Volk und der König hatten das gleiche Leid zu tragen.	Con la stessa pena lo schiavo era punito insieme con il padrone, il popolano soffriva le stesse pene del re.	و كان قضاء واحد على العبد والمولى وضربة واحدة نالت الشعب والملك
18:12	and they all together, by the one form of death, had corpses too many to count. For the living were not sufficient even to bury them, since in one instant their most valued children had been destroyed.	Durch die gleiche Todesart hatten alle zusammen unzählige Tote. Es waren nicht genügend Lebende da, um sie zu begraben; denn mit einem Schlag waren die besten Nachkommen vernichtet worden.	Tutti insieme, nello stesso modo, ebbero innumerevoli morti, e i vivi non bastavano a seppellirli perché in un istante perì la loro più nobile prole.	و كان لكلهم اجمعين اموات لا يحصون قد ماتوا ميتة واحدة حتى ان الاحياء لم يكفوا لدفن الموتى اذ في لحظة ابيد نسلهم الاعز
18:13	For though they had disbelieved everything because of their magic arts, yet, when their firstborn were destroyed, they acknowledged your people to be God's child.	Bisher waren sie durch die Künste ihrer Zauberer ungläubig geblieben; jetzt aber mussten sie beim Untergang der Erstgeborenen bekennen: Dieses Volk ist Gottes Sohn.	Quelli rimasti increduli a tutto per via delle loro magie, alla morte dei primogeniti confessarono che questo popolo è figlio di Dio.	و بعد ان ابوا بسبب السحر ان يؤمنوا بشيء اعترفوا عند هلاك الابكار بان الشعب هو ابن لله
18:14	For while gentle silence enveloped all things, and night in its swift course was now half gone,	Als tiefes Schweigen das All umfing und die Nacht bis zur Mitte gelangt war,	Mentre un profondo silenzio avvolgeva tutte le cose, e la notte era a metà del suo corso,	و حين شمل كل شيء هدوء السكوت وانتصف مسير الليل
18:15	your all-powerful word leaped from heaven, from the royal throne, into the midst of the land that was doomed, a stern warrior	da sprang dein allmächtiges Wort vom Himmel, vom königlichen Thron herab als harter Krieger mitten in das dem Verderben geweihte Land.	la tua parola onnipotente dal cielo, dal tuo trono regale, guerriero implacabile, si lanciò in mezzo a quella terra di sterminio, portando, come spada affilata, il tuo ordine inesorabile.	هجمت كلمتك القديرة من السماء من العروش الملكية على ارض الخراب بمنزلة مبارز عنيف
18:16	carrying the sharp sword of your authentic command, and stood and filled all things with death, and touched heaven while standing on the earth.	Es trug das scharfe Schwert deines unerbittlichen Befehls, trat hin und erfüllte alles mit Tod; es berührte den Himmel und stand auf der Erde.	Fermatasi, riempì tutto di morte; toccava il cielo e camminava sulla terra.	و سيف صارم يمضي قضاءك المحتوم فوقف وملا كل مكان قتلى وكان راسه في السماء وقدماه على الارض
18:17	Then at once apparitions in dreadful dreams greatly troubled them, and unexpected fears assailed them;	Plötzlich schreckten sie furchtbare Traumgesichte auf und ungeahnte Ängste überfielen sie.	Allora improvvisi fantasmi di sogni terribili li atterrivano; timori impensabili piombarono su di loro.	حينئذ بلبلتهم بغتة اخيلة الاحلام بلبلة شديدة وغشيتهم اهوال مفاجئة
18:18	and one here and another there, hurled down half dead, made known why they were dying;	Einer stürzte hier, ein anderer dort halb tot zu Boden und bekannte, aus welchem Grund er sterben musste.	Cadendo mezzi morti qua e là, ognuno mostrava la causa della morte.	و كان كل واحد عند صرعه بين حي وميت يعلن لاي سبب يموت
18:19	for the dreams that disturbed them forewarned them of this, so that they might not perish without knowing why they suffered.	Denn die erschreckenden Träume hatten es ihnen vorausgesagt; sie sollten nicht umkommen, ohne zu wissen, warum sie so Schlimmes erlitten.	I loro sogni terrificanti li avevano preavvisati, perché non morissero ignorando il motivo delle loro sofferenze.	لان الاحلام التي اقلقتهم انباتهم بذلك لئلا يهلكوا وهم يجهلون مجلبة هلاكهم
18:20	The experience of death touched also the righteous, and a plague came upon the multitude in the desert, but the wrath did not long continue.	Auch die Gerechten lernten eine Probe des Todes kennen: Eine große Anzahl wurde in der Wüste dahingerafft; doch der Zorn hielt nicht lange an.	La prova della morte colpì anche i giusti e nel deserto ci fu strage di molti; ma l'ira non durò a lungo,	و الصديقون ايضا مستهم محنة الموت ووقعت الضربة على جم منهم في البرية لكن الغضب لم يلبث طويلا
18:21	For a blameless man was quick to act as their champion; he brought forward the shield of his ministry, prayer and propitiation by incense; he withstood the anger and put an end to the disaster, showing that he was your servant.	Ein Mann ohne Tadel sprang als Vorkämpfer ein mit der Waffe seines heiligen Dienstes, mit Gebet und sühnendem Räucherwerk. Er trat dem Zorn entgegen, machte dem Unheil ein Ende und zeigte so, dass er dein Diener war.	perché un uomo incensurabile si affrettò a difenderli: prese le armi del suo ministero, la preghiera e il sacrificio espiatorio dell'incenso; si oppose alla collera e mise fine alla sciagura, mostrando che era tuo servitore.	لان رجلا لا عيب فيه بادر لحمايتهم فبرز بسلاح خدمته الذي هو الصلاة والتكفير بالبخور وقاوم الغضب وازال النازلة فتبين انه خادمك
18:22	He conquered the wrath not by strength of body, not by force of arms, but by his word he subdued the avenger, appealing to the oaths and covenants given to our ancestors.	Er überwand die Not nicht durch Körperkraft und nicht durch Waffengewalt, sondern durch das Wort bezwang er den Strafenden, indem er ihn an die eidlich bekräftigten Bündnisse mit den Vätern erinnerte.	Egli superò l'ira divina non con la forza del corpo, né con l'efficacia delle armi; ma con la parola placò colui che castigava, ricordandogli i giuramenti e le alleanze dei padri.	فانتصر على الجمع لا بقوة الجسد ولا باعمال السلاح ولكنه بالكلام كف المعاقب مذكرا الاقسام والعهود للاباء
18:23	For when the dead had already fallen on one another in heaps, he intervened and held back the wrath, and cut off its way to the living.	Denn als die Toten sich schon häuften, trat er dazwischen, hielt seinen Ansturm auf und schnitt ihm den Weg zu den Lebenden ab.	I morti eran caduti a mucchi gli uni sugli altri, quando egli, ergendosi lì in mezzo, arrestò l'ira e le tagliò la strada che conduceva verso i viventi.	فانه اذ كان القتلى يتساقطون جماعات وقف في الوسط فحسم السخط وقطع المسلك الى الاحياء
18:24	For on his long robe the whole world was depicted, and the glories of the ancestors were engraved on the four rows of stones, and your majesty was on the diadem upon his head.	Auf seinem langen Gewand war die ganze Welt dargestellt, auf den vier Reihen der Edelsteine waren die ruhmreichen Namen der Väter eingeschnitten und auf seinem Stirnband dein hoheitsvoller Name.	Sulla sua veste lunga fino ai piedi vi era tutto il mondo, i nomi gloriosi dei padri intagliati sui quattro ordini di pietre preziose e la tua maestà sulla corona della sua testa.	لانه كان على ثوبه السابغ العالم كله واسماء الاباء المجيدة منقوشة في اربعة اسطر من الحجارة الكريمة وعظمتك على تاج راسه
18:25	To these the destroyer yielded, these he feared; for merely to test the wrath was enough.	Davor wich der Verderber voll Furcht zurück; denn es genügte schon diese Probe des Zornes.	Di fronte a questo lo sterminatore indietreggiò, ebbe paura, poiché un solo saggio della collera bastava.	فهذه خضع المهلك لها وهابها وكان مجرد اختبار الغضب قد كفى
