9:2	He had entered the city called Persepolis and attempted to rob the temples and control the city. Therefore the people rushed to the rescue with arms, and Antiochus and his army were defeated, with the result that Antiochus was put to flight by the inhabitants and beat a shameful retreat.	Er war in die Stadt, die man Persepolis nennt, einmarschiert. Bei dem Versuch, den Tempel auszurauben und eine Besatzung in die Stadt zu legen, erhob sich die Bevölkerung in Massen und griff zu den Waffen. Die Truppen wurden geschlagen und Antiochus von den Einwohnern verjagt; er musste schmählich den Rückzug antreten.	Infatti egli era giunto nella città chiamata Persepoli e si era accinto a depredare il tempio e ad impadronirsi della piazza, ma i cittadini ricorsero in massa alle armi e lo ricacciarono; perciò Antioco, messo in fuga dagli abitanti, dovette ritirarsi vergognosamente. 9:3	While he was in Ecbatana, news came to him of what had happened to Nicanor and the forces of Timothy.	In der Gegend von Ekbatana erhielt er die Nachricht von der Niederlage Nikanors und der Truppen des Timotheus.	Mentre si trovava presso Ecbàtana, gli giunsero le notizie su ciò che era accaduto a Nicànore e agli uomini di Timòteo. 9:4	Transported with rage, he conceived the idea of turning upon the Jews the injury done by those who had put him to flight; so he ordered his charioteer to drive without stopping until he completed the journey. But the judgment of heaven rode with him! For	Da geriet er in heftigen Zorn und glaubte, seine Wut über die unglückliche Flucht an den Juden auslassen zu können. Darum befahl er dem Wagenlenker, ohne Unterbrechung bis zum Ziel durchzufahren. Aber schon drohte ihm das Gericht des Himmels; denn in seiner Vermessenheit sagte er: Sobald ich in Jerusalem bin, mache ich die Stadt zu einem Friedhof für alle Juden. 9:5	But the all-seeing Lord, the God of Israel, struck him with an incurable and invisible blow. As soon as he stopped speaking he was seized with a pain in his bowels, for which there was no relief, and with sharp internal tortures-	Doch der Herr, der alles sieht, Israels Gott, traf ihn, ohne dass es jemand sehen konnte, mit einem Schlag, für den es keine Heilung gab. Kaum hatte er zu reden aufgehört, da spürte er in seinen Eingeweiden quälende Schmerzen, die kein Arzt lindern konnte. 9:6	and that very justly, for he had tortured the bowels of others with many and strange inflictions.	Damit geschah ihm ganz recht, hatte er doch die Eingeweide anderer durch zahllose ausgefallene Foltern gequält.	ben meritati da colui che aveva straziato le viscere altrui con molti e strani generi di tormenti. 9:7	Yet he did not in any way stop his insolence, but was even more filled with arrogance, breathing fire in his rage against the Jews, and giving orders to drive even faster. And so it came about that he fell out of his chariot as it was rushing along, and the fall was so hard as to torture every limb of his body.	Dennoch blieb sein Stolz ungebrochen; die Vermessenheit hatte ihn ganz und gar in Besitz genommen. Glühende Wut gegen die Juden verzehrte ihn und er befahl dem Wagenlenker, noch schneller zu fahren. Doch dann geschah es: In voller Fahrt fiel er aus dem dahinrasenden Wagen und stürzte so schwer, dass er sich alle Glieder verrenkte. 9:8	Thus he who only a little while before had thought in his superhuman arrogance that he could command the waves of the sea, and had imagined that he could weigh the high mountains in a balance, was brought down to earth and carried in a litter, making the	Eben noch hatte er in maßloser Aufgeblasenheit geglaubt, er könne den Wogen des Meeres gebieten und die Gipfel der Berge auf einer Waage wiegen. 9:9	And so the ungodly man's body swarmed with worms, and while he was still living in anguish and pain, his flesh rotted away, and because of the stench the whole army felt revulsion at his decay.	Aus den Augen des Verruchten krochen Würmer; während er noch lebte, verfaulte sein Fleisch unter Schmerzen und Qualen und der Verwesungsgeruch, der von ihm ausging, verpestete das ganze Lager.	a tal punto che nel corpo di quell'empio si formavano i vermi e, mentre era ancora vivo, le sue carni fra spasimi e dolori cadevano a brandelli e l'esercito era tutto nauseato dal fetore e dal marciume di lui. 9:10	Because of his intolerable stench no one was able to carry the man who a little while before had thought that he could touch the stars of heaven.	Kurz zuvor hatte er noch geglaubt, er könne nach den Sternen des Himmels greifen; jetzt konnte es niemand mehr bei ihm aushalten, so unerträglich war der Gestank.	Colui che poco prima credeva di toccare gli astri del cielo, ora nessuno poteva sopportarlo per l'intollerabile intensità del fetore. 9:11	Then it was that, broken in spirit, he began to lose much of his arrogance and to come to his senses under the scourge of God, for he was tortured with pain every moment.	Da endlich begann der Gepeinigte, von seinem maßlosen Hochmut abzulassen und unter Gottes Schlägen zur Einsicht zu kommen; denn seine Schmerzen wurden immer schlimmer.	Allora finalmente, malconcio a quel modo, incominciò ad abbassare il colmo della sua superbia e ad avviarsi al ravvedimento per effetto del divino flagello, mentre ad ogni istante era lacerato dai dolori. 9:12	And when he could not endure his own stench, he uttered these words, It is right to be subject to God; mortals should not think that they are equal to God.	Als er seinen Geruch selbst nicht mehr ertragen konnte, sagte er: Wenn man nur ein sterblicher Mensch ist, soll man sich Gott unterordnen und nicht überheblich sein.	Non potendo più sopportare il suo proprio fetore, disse: «E' giusto sottomettersi a Dio e non pensare di essere uguale a Dio quando si è mortali!». 9:13	Then the abominable fellow made a vow to the Lord, who would no longer have mercy on him, stating	Der Verbrecher rief sogar den Herrn an, fand aber bei ihm kein Erbarmen mehr. 9:14	that the holy city, which he was hurrying to level to the ground and to make a cemetery, he was now declaring to be free;	die Heilige Stadt, die er kurzerhand hatte dem Erdboden gleichmachen und in einen Friedhof umwandeln wollen, in den Rang einer freien Stadt zu erheben.	che avrebbe dichiarato libera la città santa, che prima si affrettava a raggiungere per raderla al suolo e farne un cimitero;	ndipo adanenetsa kuti adzaupatsa ufulu mzinda woyera kumene ankafulumira kukafikako, kuti ausalaziretu ndi kuusandutsa manda a Ayuda.	ان المدينة المقدسة التي كان يقصدها حثيثا ليمحو اثارها ويجعلها مدفنا سيجعلها حرة
9:15	and the Jews, whom he had not considered worth burying but had planned to throw out with their children for the wild animals and for the birds to eat, he would make, all of them, equal to citizens of Athens;	Hatte er zuerst beschlossen, die Juden nicht einmal eines Grabes zu würdigen, sondern sie samt den Säuglingen den Raubvögeln und den wilden Tieren zum Fraß vorzuwerfen, so wollte er sie nun alle den Bürgern von Athen gleichstellen.	che avrebbe reso pari agli Ateniesi tutti i Giudei che prima aveva stabilito di non degnare neppure della sepoltura, ma di gettare in pasto alle fiere insieme con i loro bambini;	Tsono Ayudawo, amene iye ankaganiza kuti ngosayenera kuŵaika m'manda, koma kungoŵataya onse ndi ana ao omwe kuti zilombo ndi mbalame ziŵadye, tsopano iye adati adzaŵalinganiza ndi anthu a ku Atene.	و ان اليهود الذين كان قد قضى عليهم بان لا يدفنوا بل يلقوا مع اطفالهم ماكلا للطيور والوحوش سيسويهم جميعا بالاثينيين
9:16	and the holy sanctuary, which he had formerly plundered, he would adorn with the finest offerings; and all the holy vessels he would give back, many times over; and the expenses incurred for the sacrifices he would provide from his own revenues;	Er versprach, den heiligen Tempel, den er zuvor geplündert hatte, mit den schönsten Weihegeschenken auszuschmücken, die heiligen Geräte um ein Vielfaches zu ersetzen und die nötigen Aufwendungen für die Opfer aus eigenen Mitteln aufbringen.	che avrebbe adornato con magnifici doni votivi il sacro tempio, che prima aveva saccheggiato, e avrebbe restituito in maggior numero tutti gli arredi sacri e avrebbe provveduto con le proprie entrate ai contributi fissati per i sacrifici;	Ndipo Nyumba ya Mulungu imene adaailanda ziŵiya zake, adzaikometsa ndi mphatso zabwino kwambiri. 9:17	and in addition to all this he also would become a Jew and would visit every inhabited place to proclaim the power of God.	Ja, er wollte sogar selbst Jude werden und überall hingehen, wo Menschen wohnen, um Gottes Macht zu verkünden.	inoltre che si sarebbe fatto Giudeo e si sarebbe recato in ogni luogo abitato per annunciare la potenza di Dio. 9:18	But when his sufferings did not in any way abate, for the judgment of God had justly come upon him, he gave up all hope for himself and wrote to the Jews the following letter, in the form of a supplication. This was its content:	Trotzdem ließen seine Schmerzen nicht nach; denn das gerechte Gericht Gottes war über ihn gekommen. Da gab er alle Hoffnung auf und schrieb den Juden einen Brief, der eigentlich eine Bittschrift war. Der Brief hatte diesen Inhalt:	Ma poiché i dolori non diminuivano per nulla - era arrivato infatti su di lui il giusto giudizio di Dio - e disperando ormai di sé, scrisse ai Giudei la lettera che riportiamo qui sotto, nello stile di una supplica, così concepita:	Antioko poona kuti masautso ake sakutha, malinga nkuti chiweruzo cha Mulungu chinali chitamgwera molungama, adataya mtima nalembera Ayuda kalata yokhala ngati pemphero. Kalatayo adaailemba motere:	و اذ لم تسكن الامه لان قضاء الله العادل كان قد حل عليه قنط من نفسه وكتب الى اليهود رسالة في معنى التوسل وهذه صورتها
9:19	To his worthy Jewish citizens, Antiochus their king and general sends hearty greetings and good wishes for their health and prosperity.	Seinen guten jüdischen Bürgern wünscht Antiochus, König und Befehlshaber, viel Freude, Gesundheit und Wohlergehen.	«Ai Giudei, ottimi cittadini, il re e condottiero Antioco augura magnifica salute, benessere e prosperità.	“Kwa Ayuda, anthu anga olemekezeka, ine Antioko, mfumu yao ndi mtsogoleri wao wankhondo, ndikuti moni, ndikukufunirani moyo wamphamvu ndi mtendere.	من انطيوكس الملك القائد الى رعايا اليهود الافاضل السلام الكثير والعافية والغبطة
9:20	If you and your children are well and your affairs are as you wish, I am glad. As my hope is in heaven,	Ich danke Gott sehr, wenn ihr gesund seid und wenn es auch euren Kindern und eurem Besitz nach Wunsch ergeht. Dafür setze ich meine Hoffnung auf den Himmel.	Se voi state bene e i figli e le vostre cose procedono secondo il vostro pensiero, io, riponendo le mie speranze nel Cielo,	“Ngati muli bwino nonse ndi ana omwe, ngati zanu zonse zikukuyenderani bwino, ndikondwera kwambiri. 9:21	I remember with affection your esteem and goodwill. On my way back from the region of Persia I suffered an annoying illness, and I have deemed it necessary to take thought for the general security of all.	Ich erinnere mich in Liebe an die Achtung und freundliche Hochschätzung, die ihr mir entgegengebracht habt. Bei meiner Rückkehr aus Persien zog ich mir eine Krankheit zu, die mich sehr belastet. Darum hielt ich es für nötig, für die öffentliche Sicherheit aller Bürger zu sorgen.	mi ricordo con tenerezza del vostro onore e della vostra benevolenza. Ritornando dalle province della Persia e trovandomi colpito da una malattia insopportabile, ho creduto necessario pensare alla comune sicurezza di tutti. 9:22	I do not despair of my condition, for I have good hope of recovering from my illness,	Nicht dass ich mich schon aufgegeben hätte - ich habe vielmehr gute Hoffnung, wieder gesund zu werden. 9:24	so that, if anything unexpected happened or any unwelcome news came, the people throughout the realm would not be troubled, for they would know to whom the government was left. 9:25	Moreover, I understand how the princes along the borders and the neighbors of my kingdom keep watching for opportunities and waiting to see what will happen. So I have appointed my son Antiochus to be king, whom I have often entrusted and commended to most of you when I hurried off to the upper provinces; and I have written to him what is written here.	Auch sehe ich, wie die Machthaber an den Grenzen unseres Landes, unsere Nachbarn, nur auf eine günstige Gelegenheit lauern und die kommende Entwicklung abwarten. Darum habe ich in aller Form meinen Sohn Antiochus zum Nachfolger bestimmt; ihn habe ich den meisten von euch ja schon oft anvertraut und empfohlen, wenn ich plötzlich in die östlichen Provinzen hinaufziehen musste. An ihn habe ich einen Brief geschrieben, den ich beilege.	e oltre a questo constatando che i sovrani vicini e confinanti con il nostro regno spiano il momento opportuno e attendono gli eventi, ho designato come re mio figlio Antioco, che gia più volte, quando intraprendevo i viaggi nei distretti settentrionali, ho raccomandato e affidato a moltissimi di voi.
